ENG - My work begins with a sensation I can't quite explain. That something destructive can look achingly beautiful, for instance. An oil spill on water has a colour range you simply couldn't invent, yet we all know what happened. Aerial photographs of damaged or altered landscapes read like abstract compositions.
That perspective runs through every series and collection. From above, at scale, with a layered surface that catches light differently than a flat image. The relief casts its own shadow and shifts with the light throughout the day. The work therefore occupies a room differently than a painting does, it has presence.
