Why miniatures?

A break from the slides

Teams that talk a lot about vision and direction often get stuck on words on a slide. Everyone nods, yet everyone has a different picture in their head. When you build something with your hands, that picture becomes visible. You see where you agree and where you differ.

Miniatures make that playful and accessible. And what you made together sticks better than what you discussed together. Nobody needs to be good at crafts. The director and the intern both start from zero :D

Two ways to build

3D Storytelling shadow boxes, by Miniatures Guild

Everyone their own shadow box

3D Storytelling

4 hours | studio in Utrecht or on location

Everyone builds their own miniature based on the same question. No presentations, just images. What you build shows how you look at things. First you work out your idea on paper, then you start building.

What can it be about?

  1. Your story as a company. What do you stand for? Everyone portrays it in their own way, as a metaphor in a shadow box. That turns your core values into something you can point at, instead of a sentence on the website.
  2. Where will you be in 10 years? Your colleagues' ambitions, made visible. Without the performance-review vibe ;)
  3. The customer of tomorrow. What do they look like and what do they need? Useful if you provide services.

Miniature landscape under construction, by Miniatures Guild

One island together

3D Miniature Landscape

4 hours or longer | studio in Utrecht or your own location

Together you build one large landscape: an island that represents your organisation. Without a single meeting word.

How it works

  1. Gathering the story. A facilitator asks: where are you now, where do you want to go, what is getting stuck?
  2. Translating it into landscape. The mountain top is the goal, rivers are knowledge that flows, the forest is where new things grow.
  3. Building. Everyone makes their own part of the island. Stefanie guides you step by step.
  4. Looking together. You walk around the island and discuss what you see.

The island is yours to keep: for the lobby, for the next strategy day or as a map for new colleagues.

What do you get out of it?

Why do it?

A working day is made up of screens, numbers, emails and meetings. Talking is a lot easier when your hands are busy. With your colleagues, and even with your boss.

1

Differences in perspective become visible, without anyone having to defend them.

2

Everyone gets a say, including the colleague who is always quiet in meetings.

3

Conversations that stall in a meeting room happen here naturally.

4

The story literally stays on your desk.

Always included: intake call, all materials and tools, and guidance by Stefanie. In the studio also coffee, tea and something tasty. Language: Dutch or English.

Frequently asked questions

Do we need experience?

No. You don't need to be able to draw or paint. Stefanie guides you step by step, from first idea to finished miniature. Anyone who has ever held a brush has a small advantage. A very small one.

How does booking work?

You send a request via the contact form. This is followed by a short intake call about your goal, the group and the date. You receive a tailored proposal. The booking is confirmed as soon as you accept the proposal.

How far in advance should we book?

At least 4 weeks. In that time we agree on the theme and Stefanie prepares the materials.

What does it cost?

Every workshop is tailor-made, so you get a tailored price. It depends on the number of participants, the duration and the location. Prices exclude 21% VAT. You receive an invoice in the name of your organisation.

Can it be held at our location?

Yes, without travel costs. Stefanie brings all materials and tools. You provide a room with tables, good light and a power socket.

What about food and drinks?

In the studio we provide coffee, tea and something tasty. On location you arrange the catering yourselves. Dietary requirements? Let us know during the intake call.

How many people can take part?

In the studio 6 to 12 participants. On location up to 20 per workshop leader. Larger group? Then a second workshop leader joins.

What if we need to cancel or reschedule?

Rescheduling is possible once free of charge up to 7 days in advance. Cancelling is free of charge up to 4 weeks in advance; after that we charge 50%, and within 7 days 100%.

Is the studio accessible?

The studio in Utrecht Leidsche Rijn can only be reached by stairs; there is no lift. Parking is free, in front of the door and in the street. By public transport it is within 20 minutes from Utrecht Centraal.

What should participants bring or wear?

Nothing, except the urge to build. We work with plaster and paint. Aprons are provided, but don't wear your very best gala outfit.

Can it be in English?

Yes, the workshop can be given in Dutch or English.
